The calendar of events for the upcoming MIDO, which will be held at the Milan Rho exhibition centre from 4 to 6 February 2023, will be available soon. However, other items such as hall occupancy, exhibition areas and registration for the fair’s various awards are already fixed.
In addition to opportunities for discussion, reflection, exchange of ideas and interaction, according to the fair, the eyewear supply chain will be fully represented – with manufacturers of lenses and machinery to international producers of optical and sunglass frames as well as small independent designers. Training sessions and conferences with industry professionals are planned at the OttiClub. Visitors can already register at https://www.mido.com/en/entry-pass.

MIDO 2023 in six halls
Even though the calendar of conferences, events and meetings during the upcoming MIDO is still being finalised, the exhibition areas and pavilions have already been decided, according to the organisers. The 2023 edition will take place in six pavilions at Fiera Milano Rho, one more than the last edition, namely pavilions 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 6 and 10.
Also confirmed, according to the fair, are the Fashion District, Design Tech, Design Lab, Lenses, FAiR East, Tech, Lab Academy and Start Up exhibition areas. The latter area, which was introduced last year, will host emerging companies on an eco-friendly stand made from recycled and recyclable materials, in line with the show’s environmental programme launched in 2019.
Equally dedicated to the latest brands is an area promoted by the ITA (Italian Trade Agency for the International Promotion and Internationalisation of Italian Companies) and MIDO, which will showcase the work of start-ups selected by the ITA.
Exhibitors from Asia will be back
Exhibitors from all over the world, both from Europe (France, Germany, Spain, etc.) and from Great Britain and the USA, have already reserved their place at MIDO, according to the organisers. Equally pleasing, he says, is the response from Asian companies, which are returning this year to the area dedicated to their products.
“We are very pleased to see the participation of Asian countries, especially China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand, who will be exhibiting at the upcoming edition of the show, despite the still high covid restrictions,” said Giovanni Vitaloni, president of MIDO.
Nominations for Awards
Nominations for the “BeStore Award”, which will be presented by an international jury of experts, are already open (until 9 January 2023 at the latest at https://www.mido.com/en/bestore-award). Awards will be given to the optical centres that offer the best shopping experience in the “Design” category and the best customer service in the “Innovation” category.
For the second time, the “Stand Up for Green Award” will also be presented at MIDO 2023, honouring the most sustainable stand in terms of environmental compatibility and use of materials (nomination by 15 January 2023 at https://www.mido.com/en/stand-up-for-green). The award winners will be announced during MIDO 2023.
In the run-up to the Frames campaign
In the run-up to the fair in Milan, the new “Frames” campaign, designed by Max Galli in cooperation with the Mixer Group, will be continued. The “New frames of contemporaneity” and the “New frames of fashion” were followed by “New frames of culture”. The fourth and final theme of the campaign will be presented on 15 December 2022.
